It all started when I was taking a shower. For some strange reason, most of my inspiration hits me when
I'm in the shower. I'm not really sure why. Usually it's just some urge to be creative and to make
something, but nothing specific. Just that feeling like you should be doing something. I usually
ignore them due to lack of time or ideas. This time, however, the urge got specific. All of the sudden
I thought 'I should make
an elephant.' That was it. There weren't any trumpets (thank God) or visions or anything like that,
I just thought that I should make an elephant. Naturally what came next was 'I could make a big wooden
frame and wrap it with chicken wire, then cover it with paper mache.'
I didn't really think much about it until either the next day or that afternoon, I forget which. I was
painting a fairly large job at the time, and I finished it a lot sooner than I thought I would. I found
myself sitting at home with nothing to do, a week before my next job was supposed to start, and that
strange urge to build an elephant. So I did. This is the story of its creation, as best I can recall.
I didn't really expect it to work so I didn't build it for longevity. I also wasn't planning on having
this website at the time, so I didn't document its progress quite as thoroughly as I'd have liked, but
there's still plenty to see. Enjoy.
