The previous owners of our house left an old, handmade iron lampstand on the back deck, where it's
been ever since. Apparently it was made 55+ years ago by a local blacksmith. I decided to make
it into a useable lamp again, so I made a trip to the home depot and bought a light bulb socket,
a wall plug, and 20 feet of lamp wire. (I hate puny little cords on appliances.) It was pretty
straight forward. I connected the wire to the socket, it has little screws, and ran the wire
through the holes in the stand, and twisted it through the chain (which I found in the basement,
apparently left over from when they remodeled the kitchen). After having to pull the 20 feet out
and put it back in about 4 times, I got it in right, and connected the plug to the other end.
The next day, I came downstairs and realized that the extra hanging chain looked stupid, so I
cut it off.
