The Lamp

The Lamp, Unfinished Far View
The previous owners of our house left an old, handmade iron lampstand on the back deck, where it's been ever since. Apparently it was made 55+ years ago by a local blacksmith. I decided to make it into a useable lamp again, so I made a trip to the home depot and bought a light bulb socket, a wall plug, and 20 feet of lamp wire. (I hate puny little cords on appliances.) It was pretty straight forward. I connected the wire to the socket, it has little screws, and ran the wire through the holes in the stand, and twisted it through the chain (which I found in the basement, apparently left over from when they remodeled the kitchen). After having to pull the 20 feet out and put it back in about 4 times, I got it in right, and connected the plug to the other end.
The next day, I came downstairs and realized that the extra hanging chain looked stupid, so I cut it off.
