Operation Music Storm

Operation Music Storm was an idea that was originally conceived by Rachel Venebel. A bunch of us were sitting at lunch in the dining hall. I pulled out a green army man that I had made a plastic parachute for. I said that a friend and I were planning on making a whole bunch of them and dumping them into the atrium of the music building from the 3rd floor. (Originally it was going to be onto the heads of some unsuspecting prospective students and their parents, but that never happened.)
Rachel said something to the extent of 'You should take pictures of these guys all over campus and make a movie or something!' Had I known the chaos over the next two weeks that would follow as a result of that innocent statement, I'd have stopped listening and run very far away.

Somehow I realized that SPOT (a kind of fake talent show where people do skits and dumb things that our school does twice a year) was coming up in about a week and a half, and they needed more entries. I now had a deadline.
The days that followed were summed up quite nicely by Josh Stamp who said 'Let's be honest. You haven't practiced at all the past two weeks.' And he was right. Of course, I didn't really do much of anything during that time. But enough of that. On with the story...

Operation Music Strike follows the progress of a force of little plastic green army men as they attempt to liberate the music majors of Houghton college from the forces of evil (the professors). They muster, plan (very briefly) and invade the building capturing professors as they make their way to the Third Floor Lounge. *moment of silence* Once there, they're confronted by the CFA (center For the Arts) standing militia, and you'll have to watch it to see what happens next.
It's done like a slide show set to music (Mars, by Gustav Holst). Speech is handled with bubbles and captions and special effects are kept to the minimum. Really it was all just an excuse for us to throw army men on parachutes into the atrium. And to act stupid for a while and tie up flute professors with network cables. :-)

Click the link below to watch it. It's big (36mb) so I hope you have a fast connection. I used to have a smaller version, but it disappeared. It's a .mov file, so you'll need QuickTime to watch it. Enjoy.
