The next closest store that might have them was K-Mart. So I headed over there. Turns out they don't even
have a canning section, let alone gaskets. This is about the point where I decided that this was going to
be a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. It's not been almost an hour since I started looking,
and all that I've come up with have been a package of rubber dots. (I picked them up at K-mart so that
it would be a completely wasted trip. I wanted to put on the bottom of my cutting board to keep it from
sliding around when I cut chicken.
I decided that I needed to have the gasket with me to show people and say 'I need one of these' rather
than trying to describe it. While I was there, I stuck the dots on the bottom of my cutting board. They
stuck, but the goo on them was stretchy and they moved around. So I peeled off the goo (double sided tape
essentially) and fired up the hot glue gun.
Now they aren't going anywhere.
Next I pulled off the gasket from the corn jar and headed out to go to A.C. Moore. (A craft shop that
sells jars. My mom was pretty sure they would have them.
If you're wondering what the heck these gaskets are that I'm talking about,
they look like this. Sorry the one is so blurry. My camera focused on what was behind it, for some reason.
