The Sugar Jar Quest, Page 4

I pulled into the wrong parking lot and therefore drove past Michaels, another craft store similar to A.C. Moore. I figured it was worth a shot. Looked around, couldn't find them. Waited in line at customer service and asked. She had no idea what it was. 'Do you sell these?' 'What is it?' 'A mason jar seal.' 'No, sorry, we don't.' 'That's okay, neither does anybody else, apparently.'

After a little searching, I found the right entrance to the plaza that had Kitchen Kapers in it. I walked in, and was greeted by a girl who asked if she could help. I pulled it out of my pocket and asked again. 'You don't sell these, do you?' To my astonishment, she said 'Actually, we do.'

Thinking it was a joke, I asked her if she was kidding. She said she wasn't, and led me to the back corner of the store, where there were 5 bags of 6 seals each hanging on a rack. There they were. 30 of them. I'm trying really hard to come up with an analogy to describe what it was like to see them there, after searching for close to 3 hours, but I can't. So you'll have to use your imagination.

I drove home really fast. I ran in the front door and grabbed the jar. To my horror the seal was significantly smaller than the jar lid. Then I discovered that they're really stretchy.

So there you have it. If you ever need those things, save yourself a lot of time and frustration and go straight to Kitchen Kapers.

In case you're wondering, as of right now the sugar jar has some blue pixie stick dust in it b/c I don't have any sugar yet, and the tall corn jar has some fancy coffee that I bought.
